COMPANY NEWS AND EVENTS
ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY
FOR THE SUPER HICELL 250
One
year ago Onamac purchased its first Integrated Machining Cell. With
the ability to turn and mill simultaneously the "Hicell",
as it is known, is just one of the continuous improvements Onamac has
implemented to reduce cost and shorten lead times.
Parts requiring turning and milling are produced on this one machine,
in one setup, with one program, in one handling with one operator.
The integrated bar feeder allows us to run 24/7 lights out. The greatest
benefit realized to date has been the significant reduction in queue
time for parts known as "combo parts", (parts requiring both
turning and milling). In the past these parts would be shuffled from
the turning department to the milling department numerous times. This
approach greatly added to the setup and queue time, thus increasing
cost and lead time. Using the Hicell as a 5-axis machine we have been
able to machine complex parts quickly and accurately. For more information
about the Hicell and the benefits to your company please contact the
Sales Department.

ONAMAC RESTORES A BIT
OF HISTORY

Recently Onamac was given the prestigious privilege of producing landing gear components for the ME 262, a WWII German fighter plane. As part of a collaborative restoration project Onamac, along with the team at The ME262 Project, worked together to reverse engineer the parts from the original 1945 vintage aircraft. For additional information on the progress of this restoration project please visit www.stormbirds.com.
